Air Purifiers : Broad Cannot Easily Remove Formaldehyde, While Midea Has a High Energy Comsumption

Somg-prone weather causes consumer to be incresingly concerned about air quality.

Smart marketers also match up, take the opportunity to launch so-called powerful air purifiers

with a number of features and have declared in their ads "PM2,5 removal rate of 99.99%", and "formaldehyde romoval rate of 99%", etc Ate these products really as powerful as their slogans say? As constantly receiving public consultation, the Shanghai CPC (the Consumer Protection Committee) has implemented a comparison test on air purifiers recently.

대기 중 스모그가 가득한 날씨는 소비자들의 공기에 대한 관심과 걱정을 일으키고 있습니다.

공기청정기 마케터들은 이틈에 자사 제품의 홍보를 위한 최적의 시기로 판단하고 여러 가지의 특장점과 

초미세먼지(PM 2.5) 99.99% 제거효율 그리고 99%의 포름알데히드 제거효율을 광고하고 있습니다.

그런데 과연 그들이 슬로건처럼 파워풀한 성능을 나타내는 것일까요?

끊임없이 제기되는 대중들이 관심에 상하이소비자 보호 위원회에서는 최근에 공기청정기 비교 테스트를 시행했습니다. 

To ensure the fairness of the test, the Shanghai CPC has bought 22 air purifiers by itself, among which 19 sets are

bought from physical shops while 3 sets are bought from online stores, and 17sets are domestic while 5 sets are imported,

with the prices from RMB 1488 to 9300. All these porducts are high-end models of individual brands. After that the Shanghai

CPC entrusted the Shanghai Environmental Products Quality Supervision & Test Center to, in accordance with national standards and other standards, conduct tests on the performance indicators commonly concerned by the consumers

such as PM2.5 romoval rate, formaldehyde removal rate, and energy efficiency, etc.

테스트의 공정성을 위해서, 상하이 소비자보호 위원회는 22개의 제품을 직접 구매하였습니다.

19개의 제품은 매장에서 그리고 3개의 제품은 온라인에서 구입하였으며

 (17개의 제품은 국내 제품 5개의 제품은 수입품)

시장 판매 가격은 1488위안에서 9300위안(한화 : 271,262 ~ 1,695,390원)이었습니다.

모델은  각 브랜드에서 최고급 사양의 모델들을 선별하였습니다.

상하이 소비자보호 위원회는 구입 후에 실험을 상하이환경제품품질관리 & 테스트 센터에 위임하였습니다.

실험은 국제 기준과 그 밖의 기준들에 부합하도록 이루어졌으며 일반적인  소비자들의 관심부분인

PM 2.5 제거 효율과 포름알데히드 제거율 그리고 에너지 효율 등을 테스트하였습니다.

- 제가 볼 때는 5개 제품이 중국산 그리고 나머지가 다 수입한 브랜드인데..

   중국의 기준은 중국에서 생산되면 모두 국산(중국산)으로 분리하는 것 같습니다.

   (삼성, LG, - 한국 회사, 샤프, 파나소닉, 일렉트로룩스,하니웰, 필립스 등 다국적 기업의 제품들입니다.)

In Which, the test results of PM2,5 removal rate show that, the 22 samples have commonly high PM2.5

removal rates (above 78%). Among them, "Amway" 101076CH Purifier and "Blueair" 503 Purifier have a removal

rate above 99%, even the lowest rate (Media KJ40FR-NG1 sample) is 78%.

초미세먼지(PM 2.5) 제거율 테스트 결과를 보면 22개의 제품 일반적으로 78%를 넘었으며 제품 중

암웨이와 블루에어 제품은 99% 넘는 제거율을 보였으며 미디어 제품이 가장 낮은 78%의 제거효율을 나타냈습니다.

암웨이와 블루에어의 제거 효율은 99% 이상이며 순위는 알파벳순에 따른 결과입니다.)

 However, obvious difference is found in the test results of formaldehyde romoval rate, which is not

 satisfying. 8 sets have a romoval rate below 20%, among which the romoval rate of FMART APL 100 is

12%, while that of "Broad" TA400 9% and that of LOCK & LOCK ELA-230C only 8%. 9 sets have a romoval

rate above 50%. It is to be observed that, both the PM2.5% romoval rate and formaldehyed romoval rate

of Shenzhen brand Blueair 503 purifier are among the best in the tests.

포름알데히드 제거 효율에서는 분명한 차이를 보였습니다.

8개 회사의 제품은 제거효율이 20% 미만이었으며 그중에서 FMART사의 제품은 12% Broad 9%, LOCK & LOCK 8%였습니다.

오직 9개 회사의 제품만이 50% 이상의 제거 효율을 보였습니다. 이것은 초미세먼지(PM2.5)와 포름알데히드 제거 효율에

있어서 스웨덴 브랜드 블루에어가 두 가지 모두에서 최고의 성능을 발휘함을 테스트는 증명하고 있습니다..

(포름알데히드 제거효율은 특히 새집에 거주하시는 분들에게는 중요한 구입 포인트입니다.

블루에어의 제거효율이 97%로 나와있고 그리고 2위 제품과의 격차도 19% 이상의 차이가 납니다.

한국 제품들도 광고와는 많이 다른 효율을 보여주었네요...)

With the increasing social awareness of energy conservation, consumer are also much concerned

about the energy saving performance of air purifiers. Energy efficiency is classified into 5 grades.,

Grade 1 & 2 products are energy- saving products, while those below Grade 5 are not up to standard.

Test data shows that. among the 22 samples, 11 sets are Grade 1, and 2 sets are grade 2 "FMART"

APL 100 and "Midea" KJ40FR-NG1 are above Grade 5 and belongs to products with high energy comsumtion.

에너지 보존에 대한 사회적 지각이 증가함에 따라서, 소비자들도 공기청정기의 에너지 효율에 대한 많은 관심을 가지고 있습니다.

에너지 효율 등급은 5등급으로 나누어 지며 1~2등급은 에너지 절약형 제품임을 증명합니다.

이번 실험에서 11개 제품이 1~2등급을 받았으며 FMART와 Midea 사의 제품은 5등급을 넘어서서

고 에너지 소비 제품으로 분리 되었습니다..

Clean air dilivery rate refers to the total clean air volume output by an air purifier with unit time after removing solid particles.

Among the 22 samples tested, 6 sets are inconsistent with the nominal values on their nameplates.

For example, the actual measurement of "LEXY" KJ701-3 is only 57% of its nominal value.

공기정화 효율은 일정한 시간에 공기청정기를 통해서 얼마나 많은 양의 공기를 깨끗하게 정화하는지를 의미합니다.

22개의 제품 중에 6개의 제품은 그들이 이야기하는 제품의 스팩과 불일치함을 보여주었습니다..

예를 들면 렉시사의 제품은 자진들이 소비자에게 공시하는 효율의 57% 밖에 성능을 보여주지 못 했습니다..

The CFC reminds the consumers that, when selctcing air purifiers, the first thing si to select products whth relevant

outstanding performance according to the actual requirements. For example, for consumers carrying out new renovation,

it is recomended to select air purifiers with high capacity of removing formaldehyde and other pollutants. Secondly, select air purifiers which can fullfill the actual use area. Thirdly, pay attention to energy efficiency ration and energy efficiency grade. It is recommended for the consumers to seclet energy-saving products with high energy efficiency grade.

소비자보호위원회에서는 소비자들이 공기청정기를 고르는 방법에 대해서 조언을 했습니다.

첫 번째 필요한 환경에 우수한 성능의 제품을 고를 것을 당부하였습니다. 예를 들자면 새로 리모델링이나 집의 개조를 하셨다면

포름알데히드 제거나 다른 오염원들 제거 능력이 우수한 제품을 고를 것을 당부하였습니다.

두 번째로 사용 공간에 맞는 용량의 제품을 고를 것을 추천하였습니다.

세 번째로 에너지 효율에 주위를 기울일 것을 당부하였습니다.

In addition, when using air purifiers, attention shall also be paid to:

덧붙여서 공기청정기를 사용할 때의 주의사항도 언급하였습니다.

1. It is recomended that, when possible, keep the doors and windows closed during normal use, so as to avoid purification

   effect reduction due to much exchange between the indoor and outdoor air. It is noted that periodic air exchange and

   ventilation should be done after use for a logn time.

공기청정기를 사용하는 동안에는 많은 양의 실내공기와 실외공기의 교환을 통해서 공기정화 효율이 떨어지지 않도록

창문이나 방문을 닫아 놓을 것을 당부하였습니다. 주기적인 공기 교환이나 환기는 공기청정기를 오랫동안 사용한 할 것을

권장합니다.

2. When removing formaldehyde and other indoor gaseous pollutnats, one should be aware of the actual pollution degree.

    If the pollution exceeds the standard (generally 5 times highter than the standard) effective ventilation should be performed 

    before use.

실내의 포름알데히드나 다른 가스 오염원을 제거할 때는 정확한 오염도를 체크해 볼 것을 권합니다.

만약 기준치가 넘는다면 (일반적으로 기준치보다 5배 높음) 공기청정기를 사용하시기 전에 효과적인 환기를 하시기 권장 드립니다. ( 이는 위의 실험 결과에도 나와있듯이 보통의 청정기들이 포름알데히드 제거 효율이 높지 않기 때문에 기인한 것으로 보입니다.)

3.  During thd initial operation of the air purifier, it is recomended to run the unit at the highest speed for at least 30min

     and then adjust to the disired speed, so as to realize fast air purification.

공기청정기를 처음 사용할 때는 최소한 30동안은 최고 스피드로 작동할 것을 권장 드립니다. 그리고 이후에 원하시는

속도로 조절하시기 바랍니다. 공기정화가 얼마나 빨리 이루어지는 것을 깨닫기 위함입니다..

(제 생각에는 공기청정기 틀기 전 오염된 실내공기를 빨리 바꾸어 주기 위해서라고 생각됩니다..)

4. Periodically replace or clean the filter to ensure the purification effect of the air purifier, and meanwhile,

    avoid the secondary discharge of the pollutinats absorbed by the failed filter.

공기정화기의 효과를 위해서 정기적으로 필터를 갈아주어야 합니다..

필터를 정기적으로 갈아주는 것은 2차 오염을 방지하기 위해서도 중요합니다.

5 For long-term unsued air purifiers, before starging again, check ist inner wall cleanlines and filtr, conduct

  appropriate claenup, and if necessary, replace the filter.

오랫동안 사용하지 않았던 공기청정기를 다시 사용할 때는, 청정기 내벽이 먼지와 필터의 상태를 체크해보시기 바랍니다.

적당한 청소를 하시거나 필요하다면 필터를 교체하고 사용하시기 바랍니다.
